Many XV/3W activity expected for CQ WPX 2011
These last weeks many stations have been active from Viet-Nam. You could expect a strong participation to this week-end SSB contest.
XV4Y is known to be QRV for CQ WPX Contest but only with reduced time. The strongest effort should be expected from XV1X as usual. Also look for 3W3B, XV2LC, XV2W…
Good luck in the contest!
XV2LC, XV4LC reduced activity
During his antenna set up in Ho Coc, Malcolm has got his leg injured. He had to go to the hospital for check-up and treatment in order to prevent the wound being infected.
After reducing his operating time in Ho Coc, he is now enjoying some rest so he will recover quicker. Some radio activity is still possible from Ho Chi Minh City or Can Tho, but no schedule can be planned.
XV2LC will soon start operation from Ho Coc
Malcolm will soon be in Ho Coc, in the Ho Chi Minh City nearby province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau. He had enjoyed delightful pile-ups from Saigon were conditions on 20m were fair. His setup in XV2A HCMC station was good but industrial and human activities related QRM was far stronger than the years before, making traffic sometime exhausting.
Operations in Ho Coc should start from tuesday in the evening or wednesday. Malcolm will focus on lower bands and CW, installing inverted V for 160m and 80m… He will also have a vertical for 20m. Enjoy DX!
XV2LC now on the air
Malcolm has starting his operation from Ho Chi Minh City and was having great time in pile-ups from North America, Australia, Japan and Europe. He needs time to make some maintenance to XV2A (Ai) station so the 1kw linear and 20m beam will be in better shape.
XV2LC and XV4LC from August 12th to September 9th
Malcolm VK6LC will be XV2LC and XV4LC from 12/08/2010 to 9/09/2010. He will operate from various places : Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Ho Coc, Cu Chi (to be confirmed) and Can Tho. He will use a FT-857D transceiver with a 1kW linear for CW, Phone and digimode activities. Antennas will depend on the place he is operating from from wired antennas for low bands (including a 160m V-Beam), to Ground Plane and small beams at XV2A or XV4TUJ shack.
Malcolm has a long and rich relationship with Viet-Nam having operated from here many times from 1996 to 2007. He has been involved in may actions helping the development of radioamateurisme in modern Viet-Nam. He will arrive here more like a friend rather than a dxpeditioner.
